Will Yasmeen be found guilty in Coronation Street?

Yasmeen’s (Shelley King) ordeal continues this week in Coronation Street, with Alya (Sair Khan) and Ryan (Ryan Preston) desperate to pull off a last-minute miracle.

Alya’s nan has been in custody ever since she called the police to report on herself after she hit out at Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) with a bottle in self-defence after endless abuse.

Yasmeen pled not guilty, and has been fighting to prove that Geoff is the villain all along.

Determined to be seen as the victim, Geoff goads Tim (Joe Duttine) into lashing out and punching him – taking a selfie with his bloody nose to discredit Yasmeen’s key witnesses.

Are the odds stacked against Yasmeen? Will she be found guilty?

Does Yasmeen go to jail in Coronation Street?

While we await to watch Yasmeen’s fate and the outcome of her trail, what we do know is that there has been no announcement that actress Shelley is leaving the soap any time soon – suggesting she’s not going to be locked up or taken away from the Cobbles for long.

We also know that actor Ian, who plays Geoff, has confirmed that he will be leaving the soap at some stage this year.

He revealed to Metro.co.uk that Yasmeen will get a ‘redemptive ending’, suggesting that the character will hopefully avoid a long jail term for trying to save herself from her abusive husband.

‘The timelines have been shunted due to the lockdown but I think it’s fair to imagine that it will be this year,’ Ian said of his departure from the soap.

‘What form that comeuppance is in discussion. We wanted a redemptive ending for Yasmeen obviously and the toughest it’s going to get for her is over the next months.

‘It’s towards the end of the year but the key thing is to impart the right message. For the sake of the people it has impacted we have to tell the right ending with some positivity.’

Could this mean that Yasmeen will avoid going to jail altogther? You’ll have to tune in to find out…

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm
