Will Smith is teaming with “Deadpool 2” and “Hobbs & Shaw” director David Leitch on the new drama “Fast & Loose” which has been the subject of a major bidding war in the past 24-48 hours.
Smith plays a man who wakes up in Tijuana after being left for dead with absolutely no memory. He follows a string of clues to uncover his identity discovering he’s been living two different lives.
One, as a highly successful crime kingpin with all the lavish lifestyle that comes with it. The other as an undercover CIA agent with a puny salary, no family or home life whatsoever, and zero trappings of success.
The problem is he can’t remember which of these two personas is his true identity and which life he really wants to live. Originally developed by STXfilms with “The Meg” and “RED” scribes Jon and Eric Hoeber attached, Leitch was initially only aboard as producer.
Recently he added himself as director and got Smith onboard ready to make it as his next star vehicle once he wraps Antoine Fuqua’s “Emancipation”. They took the project out to studios and streamers which started a feeding frenzy with almost every major up for it including Warners, Sony, Paramount, MGM and now a bunch of streamers as well.
Smith, Leitch, Kelly McCormick, Jon Mone and James Lassiter are producing.
