Series Trailer: Taylor-Joy In “Queen’s Gambit”

Following his success with the limited western series “Godless” for Netflix, filmmaker Scott Frank is re-teaming with the streamer for another short series – “The Queen’s Gambit”.

An adaptation of Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel, Anya Taylor-Joy plays an orphaned young woman in Kentucky who must deal with both a tranquilizer addiction and the consequences and pressures of being a female chess genius in a male-dominated sport.

Haunted by her personal demons and fueled by a cocktail of narcotics and obsession, Beth transforms into an impressively skilled and glamorous outcast while determined to conquer the traditional boundaries established in competitive chess.

Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Moses Ingram, Harry Melling and Bill Camp co-star. “The Queen’s Gambit” is set to premiere on Netflix on October 23rd.
