“David Makes Man” showrunner Dee Harris-Lawrence, Emmy-nominated director Millicent Shelton, and NBA legend LeBron James are all behind the project which is being produced for The Springhill Company and ABC Signature.

Harris-Lawrence pens and Shelton directs this look at the raw and unflinching look at the force of nature that was Baker, the biggest Black female artist of her time – an international superstar, decorated WWII spy, civil rights activist and flawed mother.

Negga, Harris-Lawrence and Shelton executive produce. Beyonce, Diana Ross, Lynn Whitfield, Karine Plantadit, Carra Patterson and Cush Jumbo have all played her on film or for TV.

This project is separate from the Studiocanal, CPB Films and Leyland Films English-language drama series in the works.
