Hasbro has announced that it has renewed its licensing deal with Lucasfilm and will continue making “Star Wars” toys along with now making them based on the “Indiana Jones” franchise including the upcoming fifth film. Mike Flanagan’s new Netflix series “The Fall of the House of Usher” starts production tomorrow with Willa Fitzgerald (“Reacher,” “Gotham,” “Scream: The TV Series”) having been announced as joining the cast which includes Mark Hamill, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Frank Langella, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas and Zach Gilford. HBO is teaming with Made Up Stories and Endeavor Content for a limited series adaptation of Australian comedian Benjamin Stevenson’s new novel “Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone.”
The story sees a teacher, shunned by his well-known criminal family for dobbing in his brother to the cops, finding himself invited to a reunion at a snowbound mountain retreat. When the dead body of an unidentified man is found frozen on the slopes, the teacher investigates. [Source: Deadline]
Madame Luna
“Safe House” and “Morbius” director Daniel Espinosa’s Swedish-language “Madame Luna” is set to begin filming in Sicily and Calabria on May 5th. Budgeted at $5.6 million, the refugee drama is penned by Maurizio Braucci and Suha Arraf.
The story chronicles the true story of an Eritrean refugee girl, washed ashore in Libya, who becomes one of the most notorious of human traffickers with deep ties to the Italian Mafia. David Herdies is producing. [Source: Variety]
The Old Way
Saban Films has acquired domestic rights to both Brett Donowho’s “The Old Way” western starring Nicolas Cage. The film is targeting a theatrical and VOD release for late 2022.
Cage plays a former gunslinger whose wife is murdered by outlaws. He must once again take up arms in violence – this time with the help of his daughter. Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Nick Searcy and Shiloh Fernandez also star. [Source: Deadline]
