Pundit claims West Ham should ‘not hesitate’ to sign Zouma

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged West Ham United to make a move for Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma.

The former England No.1 has heaped praise on the Frenchman and has said that David Moyes should not hesitate to bring him to the London Stadium.

The Hammers are reportedly only willing to pay £20million for the 26-year-old, with Chelsea holding out for £25m.

Sky Sports had revealed that the London club had turned their attention to Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic after their attempt to sign Zouma.

Milenkovic, 23, has been with Fiorentina since 2017 and has attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham during his time in Italy.

However, Robinson believes that Zouma would be a great signing for the Hammers.

When asked if they should revive their interest and offer £25m for the defender, he told Football Insider: “Pay it.

“That is a deal worth pushing over the line at that price.

“I think Zouma is a very good player with a lot of Premier League experience for someone his age. He’s played for two big clubs in Chelsea and Everton so he has shown that he can handle the pressure.

“West Ham need defensive reinforcements. They were weak at the back towards the end of the season.

“Zouma is a steady player and he doesn’t make many errors. His game time at Chelsea looks as if it will be limited so a move to West Ham could work for all parties.”

Elsewhere, Chelsea have reportedly offered Sevilla £30million plus Zouma for centre-back Jules Kounde.

Talks have stalled in recent days as it has emerged that the Blues’ defender is not keen on a move to the LaLiga club.

It was announced last week that Kounde had agreed personal terms with the London club, preferring to join a team in the Champions League rather than Spurs, who were also linked.

The 22-year-old impressed for Sevilla last season and was called up by France for Euro 2020.

Sevilla are willing to part with one of their top assets and are now looking at Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak as his replacement.

The La Liga side have ‘given the signal’ to Schalke that they ‘want to pay €17m’ to land Kabak.
