Website Very is expected to get new PS5 stock in today and BT and EE may still have some left, but Argos has already sold out.
When rumours first suggested that there’d be a major new influx of PlayStation 5 stock to the UK in January you were probably imagining something a bit more convenient than constantly refreshing your browser in the small hours of the morning, as everything sells out in minutes.
That’s been the situation all year though and there’s little chance it’s going to change today, especially since Argos already sold out before most people even got up this morning.
Very.co.uk is expected to put their stock up for sale at between 10 to 11am today, January 26, and while it’s certain not to last for very long at least it’s another chance. [Update 2: The new stock did appear after all but is now gone, although this time it did last for around an hour.]
BT and EE also started offering stock today but it’s unclear if any of it is left. You have to be an existing broadband or mobile customer to buy from them, but they proved to be very reliable last year at launch – and to have stock that lasted longer than regular stores.
Signing up to BT just to be in with a chance of buying a PlayStation 5 is a bit extreme, but if you’re already a customer then all you need to do is log in at BT.com.
According to Twitter account PS5 UK Stock – Instant Updates there are still other retailers that should get stock to offer this week, but only smaller chains like Hughes and JD Williams.
Once they and Very have run out it’ll likely be back to waiting for another delivery to ship from Sony, which will probably take a few weeks.
As ever, there are plenty of consoles being sold by scalpers on eBay, with the average price being between £700 and £800 – if you’re willing to pay over the odds.
