PS5 Game Pricing, Launch Titles Confirmed

In the wake of Sony’s PlayStation 5 showcase today, press releases have since come out and confirmed several more details.

First up, they confirm that exclusive titles from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios will be priced at launch from US$49.99 to US$69.99 (RRP). The latter price will likely be the case for their major AAA titles.

Next they discuss supporting both new to PlayStation and the existing PS4 community in transitioning over to PS5. First up they confirm that PS4 versions of “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” “Sackboy A Big Adventure” and “Horizon: Forbidden West” will be available.

The games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique features like its ultra-high speed SSD and DualSense controller, so the PS4 version will have to be downgraded quite a bit. Those who purchase a PS4 digital versions of launch games get a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

As already said, they’ll be launching the PlayStation Plus collection with free downloads of eighteen top PlayStation 4 titles including “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,”” God of War,” “Bloodborne,” “The Last of Us: Remastered,” “inFamous Second Son,” “Persona 5,” “Detroit: Become Human,” “Until Dawn,” “The Last Guardian” and “Ratchet and Clank”.

That’s most of their exclusives for the lifespan of the console, though missing a handful of their biggest key titles like “Marvel’s Spider-Man,” “Ghost of Tsushima,” “Horizon: Zero Dawn,” “The Last of Us Part II,” “Death Stranding,” “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection” and “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy”.

Next they confirm that launch titles for the PS5 includes “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” the “Demon’s Souls” remaster, “Sackboy A Big Adventure,” “Destruction AllStars” and the pre-installed “Astro’s Playroom”.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” will come in two editions – a standard $49.99 edition, and a $69.99 ultimate edition. The latter includes a full re-master of the original “Marvel’s Spider-Man” complete with all the DLC and other improvements including better skin, eyes, hair, and facial animation, ray-traced reflections, ambient shadows, improved lighting, more NPCs and vehicles, new photo mode, three new Spider-Man suits, and a 60FPS performance mode like the new game.
