Following the new trailer release earlier today, a new still from HBO Max’s “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” has been released and shows off a proper high resolution look at the original design for Ciaran Hinds’ villain Steppenwolf.

This version still looks like a “Dark Souls” character, but offers a more complex, more alien and much more imposing appearance than that in Joss Whedon’s theatrical cut of the 2017 film. It’s also a much busier look with so many reflective spikes as to no doubt make numerous CG artists scream.

Snyder’s new take will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director’s original vision along with the additional photography.

The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut. The movie will release in four one-hour parts on HBO Max in 2021.
