Brendan Rodgers has played down Leicester City’s title chances this season, saying the Foxes are “nowhere near” the level of the Premier League’s biggest spenders.
Leicester kicked off their league campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Wolves at the King Power Stadium.
Jamie Vardy was on target for the 2015/16 PL champions, converting from a Ricardo Pereira cross.

Rodgers was pleased with the performance against the Molineux club:
“We had a really good pre-season and today we wanted to deliver,” he told BBC Match of the Day.
“We played really well first half, some of the football we played was outstanding, and we didn’t have too many problems. Second half we defended more and we could have made the game more comfortable, but to keep a clean sheet and play to that level was really pleasing.
“The fans gave us the energy, you see the connection the players have with the support, and they got us over the line.”
Leicester finished fifth in the league last season despite looking to be a shoo-in for a top four finish.
They haven’t finished in the Champions League places since their league triumph in 2016 but are becoming a consistent top six side.
“We’re just out to do our very best,” Rodgers said.
“If you look at some other clubs and what they’re spending, we’re nowhere near that level. I just hope we can keep developing. If we can progress again this year I’ll be happy and we’ll see where that takes us.”
The Foxes signed Jannik Vestergaard from Southampton for £15million earlier this week, joining Boubacar Soumare, Patson Daka and Ryan Bertrand as the club’s summer signings.
Vestergaard has signed a contract with Leicester lasting until June 2024.
Speaking to LCFC TV about his move, Vestergaard said: “I’m very happy and I’m really excited to get going. It’s a special club that has done very well over many years and I think the project is very, very exciting, even from the outside looking in. To be a part of it is a big thing for me.
“I know a couple of the players, and Kasper (Schmeichel) and Ryan (Bertrand) I know very well and get along with off the pitch, so that’s going to be very easy.”
