Today’s just released episode of “The Mandalorian” on Disney+ proved the most heavily tied into “Star Wars” lore to date.
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
Writer-director Dave Filoni spent the fifth episode of the eight for this second season serving as a showcase for Rosario Dawson as she brought Filoni’s most famous animated creation, Ahsoka Tano, to life in live-action form though.
Not only that though, she revealed the name of The Child/Baby Yoda which is ‘Grogu’ along with details of his backstory – namely he was a youngling raised in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant who was sent away before the events of “Revenge of the Sith”. He and the late Yoda were also the only ones of their kind.
Still more reveals came later on when Ahsoka said her whole point for being on planet is to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, the blue-skinned man regarded by many as the best military strategist in the Empire. There’s been hints of an Ahsoka spin-off and her hunt for Thrawn would make an understandable first season storyline. Finally there’s hint at more Jedi to come later this season at some point as Mando heads for one of their temples to find more.
All up it was a pretty packed episode. Have your say on what you thought in the comments below:
