Cynthia Erivo will play the Blue Fairy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will provide the voice of Jiminy Cricket in the Robert Zemeckis-directed “Pinocchio” film at Disney Pictures.
The pair join Tom Hanks as Geppetto and Luke Evans as the coachman in the live-action retelling of the 1940 film adaptation of the classic story.
Also onboard are “Flora and Ulysses” star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the voice of the title character of Pinocchio, Keegan-Michael Key as the voice of Honest John and Lorraine Bracco as the new character Sofia the Seagull.
Zemeckis is directing off a script he wrote with Chris Weitz. Shooting begins later this month in the UK.
