Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) and Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) are about to get a big shock when Tracy discovers that she is pregnant in Emmerdale. With the relationship still in its early stages, are the pair ready for such a commitment?
Nate and Tracy go to the hospital to get Tracy’s wrist treated. However, after a urine test, Tracy and Nate are stunned to learn that she’s pregnant. How will they take the news?
Given they have not been dating long and with his recent history in the village is it time for some difficult conversations?
Amy exclaimed: ‘Tracy is in total shock. She thinks she’s been careful, she’s on the pill so it does come as a massive surprise and in general it’s quite shocking news to hear, they’ve not been together that long.
‘I feel like her initial thought is oh god, more drama. The main important thing at the moment is Vanessa and just getting her better. So yeah initially, I feel like she doesn’t want to put it on anyone else, and then she realises that it’s keeping her awake at night, she knows there is a decision to make, does she keep it or not?
‘And she does need to confide in someone, but she’s only got Vanessa, family wise now, blood relative. Obviously Charity’s there as well and they’ve got a very interesting relationship which you see play out. I don’t think she’s too worried about the fact it’s Nate’s, she very quickly comes round to thinking there’s been all this darkness and horribleness the last few years, maybe this is the thing that brings people joy and I think that’s what makes her decision in the end to definitely keep it.’
However, how does Nate feel about becoming a father?
Jurell mused: ‘I think he’s just completely terrified, she’s on the pill and they’re enjoying that side of the relationship as well, I think they’re a quite intimate couple but I think they’re both playing it safe so I think this comes as a massive shock but I think Nate’s terrified and of course with his own family relations it makes him in a more terrified state.
‘I think he will adapt to fatherhood but it’s going to be a massive task in hand and in the back of his head as well, growing up without his biological father is a massive weight on his shoulders and I think that’s going to be going on in his head all the way through the pregnancy and even the birth.
‘But I think it’s going to be interesting to see how he deals with that but I think it’s going to be to the point where it’s skeletons in the closet and it’s going to be really difficult for him to manage the child and his relationship and also manage his own demons with Cain and the Dingles.’
Will the couple be strong enough to overcome the issues and make a real go of the future as a family?
