Microsoft just held their E3 presentation, showcasing an array of trailers for some exclusive to Xbox and PC titles. Most hailed from either familiar franchises or developers, though there was the odd surprise.
The big titles showcased were “Starfield” (see our earlier article) coming late 2022, and “Forza Horizon 5” with this one set in Mexico and out on November 9th this year. Graphics wise things have taken a jump up from previous ‘Forza’ entries thanks to the new hardware.
Also unveiled were “Dishonored” and “Prey” developer Arkane Studios’ new open-world vampire hunting shooter “Redfall” that’s both single and co-op. There was also “Contraband,” a new title from “Just Cause” developer Avalanche Studios though specifics of that are still vague.
Some high profile sequels were shown including follow-ups to “The Outer Worlds,” “Slime Rancher,” “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl,” and “A Plague Tale: Innocence”. “Halo Infinite” scored a multiplayer trailer and a commitment to release the game this year, along with graphics that appear to have improved on the poorly received trailer last year.
There was also a “Diablo II” remake, a “Pirates of the Caribbean” tie-in for “Sea of Thieves,” some promising indie titles like the “Inside”-esque “Somerville” and the uniquely premised “Twelve Minutes,” and footage from cross-platform titles like “Far Cry 6” and “Battlefield 2042”.
