A month ago came the news that the late, great Sean Connery had died at his home in the Bahamas.
The cause of death was not revealed at the time, though it was believed to be due to natural causes. Now TMZ reports that is indeed the case according to the death certificate which indicates he died from respiratory failure as a result of pneumonia, atrial fibrillation and ‘old age’ as the causes.
Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rate that can increase the risk of strokes, heart failure and other heart-related complications.
Connery’s wife of 45 years, Micheline Roquebrune, previously said he also had a long battle with dementia and ‘went peacefully’ in his sleep. The certificate lists Connery, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, as a ‘retired actor’.
