Haley Bennett (“The Magnificent Seven,” “The Girl on the Train”) has joined Eli Roth’s adaptation of the video game franchise “Borderlands”. She joins a cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu and Jack Black.

Bennett will take on a new original role for the film about a group of explorers on an arid alien planet trying to break into a secret vault full of ancient tech. [Source: Games Radar]

Analeigh Tipton (“Why Women Kill”) has joined the cast of B.J. Novak’s directorial debut “Vengeance” at Focus and Blumhouse. Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher, J. The Lost City of D
Patti Harrison will join Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in an unspecified role in the romantic adventure “The Lost City of D” at Paramount Pictures. Adam and Aaron Nee are directing from a script by Dana Fox.

The story follows a reclusive romance novelist (Bullock), who was sure nothing could be worse than getting stuck on a book tour with her cover model (Tatum), until a kidnapping attempt sweeps them both into a cutthroat jungle adventure. [Source: Variety]

Gina Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., and Tom Ellis have signed on to star in the Netflix romantic comedy feature “Players”. Trish Sie (“Pitch Perfect 3”) will direct from a script by Whit Anderson (“Daredevil,” “Ozark”).

The story follows Chicago sportswriter Mack (Rodriguez) who has spent years devising successful hook-up ‘plays’ with best friend Adam (Wayans Jr.) and their crew, but when she unexpectedly falls head-over-heels for one of her targets (Ellis), they all must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to playing for keeps. Six Guns for Hire
Colm Feore (“Umbrella Academy,” “Storm of the Century”) is set to star in post-apocalyptic Western “Six Guns for Hire” which recently began filming in Toronto.

The story follows a vicious group of strangers who gather to divvy up the spoils of a train robbery, while an ace detective is hot on their trail. Matt Campagna and Melissa D’Agostino co-direct. [Source: Variety]
