Two girls were taken to hospital yesterday evening after a suspected sex attack by a teenager.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested after the schoolgirls were found in a park shortly after 6pm in Score Lane, Liverpool.
The girls, who are the same age as the boy, were said to be in a distressed state by a police officer who arrested the boy and took him in for questioning.
The park remained closed today while investigations took place and witnesses were being asked to contact police.
A police spokesperson said: ‘We have arrested a male following an incident in Childwall [southeast Liverpool] yesterday.
‘At around 6.10pm, a report was received of two 15-year-old girls being found at a park on Score Lane.
‘Both girls were reportedly in a distressed state and were taken to hospital.
‘Following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been taken for questioning.
‘An investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.
‘Forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and a cordon remains is in place while detectives investigate.’
