With “GLOW” unfairly and abruptly cancelled on Netflix, producers on several other shows are now trying to muscle one the same ‘period drama (with comedy elements) about adult melancholy in an overly theatrical athletic world’ turf.
Apple TV+ has “Physical” coming shortly, and now Starz has released the first trailer for its wrestling series “Heels” starring “Arrow” alum Stephen Amell and “Vikings” star Alexander Ludwig as brothers in the world of small-town pro wrestling.
Set in a close-knit Georgia community, the series follows a family-owned wrestling promotion, as the brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to – or hard to leave behind.
Alison Luff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund and Allen Maldonado co-star. The series premieres on Sunday, August 15th across all Starz platforms and will air day and date internationally on the StarzPlay premium streaming service.
