Alcon Television Group (“The Expanse”) has picked up the rights to Joe Madureira’s indie comic “Battle Chasers” with “John Wick” creator Derek Kolstad set to write and executive produce a live-action fantasy series adaptation.
The comic centered on a nine-year-old girl named Gully, searching for her father with the help of some magical gloves; Garrison, a swordsman with a magical blade; and Red Monika, a bounty hunter.
A golem named Calibretto and the wizard Knolan were also part of the crew taking on armies of villains. Adrian Askarieh, Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Loni Peristere, Chris Jones and Samantha Shearr will executive produce the TV series.
The comic famously was left unfinished for two decades, only nine issues were published over a three year span. Madureira is now returning to the finish the comic series with three new issues to wrap up the story to be released early next year.
