Forest Whitaker’s fan-favorite “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” character Saw Gerrera will return to the role for the upcoming prequel series “Star Wars: Andor”.
Veteran actor Stellan Skarsgard has a role in the series and while giving an interview with Swedish radio station Sverigesradio.se (via The Playlist), he revealed he had shot a big scene with Whitaker. That confirms recent reports that Whitaker had been seen on set.
The series follows Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and the Rebel Alliance freedom fighters years before the events of “Rogue One” when Andor was a rebel spy in the war against the empire. Gerrera also appeared in the animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star War: Rebels” series.
Tony Gilroy serves as showrunner on the series which also stars Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly. The twelve-episode series is expected to premiere sometime in 2022.
