Warner Bros. Discovery has been announced as the proposed new name for the new joint venture between WarnerMedia and Discovery.
Discovery chief David Zaslav reportedly announced the new name Tuesday morning as he held a town hall with WarnerMedia employees from the Burbank lot.
In a statement, WarnerMedia says: “The Warner Bros. Discovery name will honor, celebrate and elevate the world’s most-storied creative studio in the world with the high quality, global nonfiction storytelling heritage of Discovery. Warner Bros. Discovery will aspire to be the most innovative, exciting and fun place to tell stories in the world – that is what the company will be about.”
AT&T revealed on May 17th plans to combine Discovery and AT&T’s Time Warner assets into a joint venture that would be spun off as a separate entity. The deal sees AT&T cutting the cord on WarnerMedia in a $43 billion deal three years after buying Time Warner.
