A couple of major Spring theatrical releases have set their digital and home video release dates.
Sony Pictures has reportedly set an April 26th release date for the Tom Holland-led “Uncharted” film on digital platforms, with a disc release to follow sometime in May.
The date comes on the heels of a story at TechRaptor about a Steam release schedule link suggesting the “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves” game collection will hit PC on July 15th.
Next up, Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi saga “Moonfall” has set its home video dates with Lionsgate having the film arrive on digital on April 1st and then on disc on April 26th.
Over at Paramount, “Jackass Forever” has set its home video plans. The title will be available from tomorrow (March 22nd) on the Paramount+ service followed by a digital VOD release on March 29th and a disc release on April 19th.
Of note is the digital and Blu-ray editions will feature a reported additional 40 minutes of bonus footage with up to fifteen more stunts with names like “Tarantula Bite,” “Fire In The Hole,” “Soccer Ball Surprise,” “Broke Zach Mountain,” “Toilet Geyser,” and “Wee Man Throws Zach Under The Bus”.
Finally, a briefly leaked online (and then removed) trailer has indicated “Star Trek: The Motion Picture – The Director’s Edition” could be available to stream in 4K via Paramount+ from April 5th. However, as the clip has been pulled, that date may no longer be set.
Robert Wise recut the 1979 film and added then all-new special effects for certain key sequences along with restoring some scenes for the original release which has only been available until now on a DVD released in 2001. The now-gone clip indicates the film has received a 4K UHD high-definition remaster from the ground up including new visual effects.
