Trailer: Kristen Bell Is “Woman In The House”

Netflix

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the Kristen Bell-led limited series “The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window” which will launch on the service on January 28th.

Created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson and Larry Dorf, who also serve as co-showrunners, the series centers around heartbroken Anna (Bell). Every day sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her.

When a handsome neighbour moves in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel. That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder… Or did she? Michael Ealy, Mary Holland, Shelley Hennig, Cameron Britton, Christina Anthony and Benjamin Levy Aguilar also co-star.

Though the trailer plays it like a straight “Rear Window” style mystery-thriller, the series is most likely a darkly comedic skewering of pulpy throwback trash thrillers with a female lead who is an unreliable narrator who heavily self-medicates ala “The Woman in the Window” and “The Girl On The Train” (and “Gone Girl” to some extent).

This fits with the project hailing from Gloria Sanchez Productions, the backers of the likes of comedies like “Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar,” “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,” and “Booksmart” along with shows like “Dead to Me” and “The Shrink Next Door”.

Bell executive produces the series with Will Ferrell, Jessica Eibaum and Brittney Segal.
