Actor Tom Holland is currently filming the next Spider-Man movie, a film that he calls the “most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made.”
He shared this comment in an interview with Variety. Elaborating further, Holland said said he’s been impressed by the script and the scope for the film.
“You sit down, read the script, and see what they’re trying to do, and they’re succeeding. It’s really impressive. I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it,” he said. And I’m just, you know, again, that lucky little sh** who happens to be Spider-Man in it.”
Also in the interview, Holland confirmed that filming on the new Spider-Man movie began before Christmas, filming for seven weeks before taking a break for the holidays. He’s back filming again. “I’m just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it,” he said.
Earlier this week, Holland shared a cryptic tease for the new Spider-Man film. Posting on Instagram, he said he recently filmed something for the movie that was “easily one of the highlights of my career.”
“For those of you that were there, you know what I’m talking about and for those of you that weren’t, you better buckle up!!!” he said.
Spider-Man 3 is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2021. In addition to Holland, the film brings back Zendaya in her starring role. Jamie Foxx joins the cast to play Electro, while Alfred Molina has also signed on to play Doctor Octopus.
