Two-time Oscar-winner Tom Hanks will guest star in the second episode of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ “Yellowstone” prequel series “1883”.
Hanks will play a sympathetic three-star general, a character inspired by General George Meade, in a recreation of a famous photograph from the brutal Civil War Battle of Antietam – the bloodiest day in American history with over 22,000 soldiers dead.
in the scene Tim McGraw’s lead character of Confederate officer James Dutton picks himself off the ground following the concussive conflict. As Union troops approach, the gloved hand of Hanks’ general falls on his shoulder.
Hanks reportedly shot his scene in a day in late September, outside Weatherford, Texas. He is one of multiple major star surprise appearances in the series’ first season according to Sheridan. Along with Hanks, Billy Bob Thornton will also guest star as a no-nonsense and brutal sheriff in Fort Worth, Texas.
Faith Hill, Sam Elliott, Isabel May and LaMonica Garrett lead the series which premieres Sunday, December 19th on Paramount+.
