The room I use as my office doesn’t get a lot of natural sunlight, even on the sunniest days, so for months into this whole WFH thing I had been relying on the ceiling light that’s directly over my desk. It made everything dim and drab, and the shadow-casting, yellowy overhead light was not flattering at all whenever I logged onto one of my countless Zoom meetings. I tried using a desk lamp, but real estate on my small desk is scarce and the lamp I bought did little to remedy my depressing lighting situation.

I set it up right next to my desk so that the LED light shines directly over my laptop, which means I don’t need to turn on the ceiling light at all. The most surprising bonus of buying this lamp, however, might just be its stellar Zoom-enhancing effects: Because the lamp has an adjustable arm, I can swivel it behind my laptop when I have a meeting, which creates a nice glow effect that I must say looks a thousand times better than what I’d been doing for most of the pandemic. The first time I used it during a meeting someone asked if I’d bought a ring light, and I’ve been getting compliments on my setup ever since.
