I once took a pre-pandemic weekend trip with a friend who’s an artist, lives in Maine, and has a hen house (a lifestyle I aspire to, but will never achieve). She has excellent taste, and on our trip, after she took her “nightly bath,” she emerged from her room wearing a very cozy, gray knit jumpsuit. Her “house jumpsuit.” I instantly heart-eyed over it and was informed she’d purchased it in some chic, little boutique. I never forgot that jumpsuit. Fast-forward to this fall, and I finally found an equivalent: this Bobeau sweater-knit jumpsuit. I love it. There is something immensely satisfying about slipping on a one-piece made of the softest knit, knowing no other clothing is required.
It’s like a full-body hug, and it is so light and airy against the skin. With its attached waist tie (so you never lose it), button-up blouse, and wide, airy cut, I think it’s universally flattering. I hate when pants cling to my stomach, but this stretches in the right places and feels like whipped butter. And did I mention it has pockets?! Yeah, I could cry. I’m actually wearing it right now while I write this because, What are work clothes? I may not be an artist with a hen house, but I do feel like a grown-ass woman who finally found her “house jumpsuit.” (Psst: The directions say hand-wash only, but I stick it in the machine and let it air dry. Also, this jumpsuit is available in plus sizes. Enjoy!) —Malia Griggs, commerce editor
