The news came the other day that Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” would clock in at 175 minutes, making it the longest solo Batman film released theatrically to date.
A new report in the Heat Vision newsletter however has revealed that some test screenings of the noir detective film had it going even longer with one version clocking in at four hours.
That would put it on par with “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” as the longest superhero film to date at 242 minutes, and certainly longer than Snyder’s 183-minute “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice – Ultimate Cut”.
Whether we’ll see such a four-hour cut on home video is not known at this time. We do know the film will follow the early years of the masked vigilante in Gotham City and stars Robert Pattinson in the Bruce Wayne/Batman role alongside Colin Farrell, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, and Andy Serkis.
“The Batman” is scheduled for release in theaters on March 4th 2022 followed by an HBO Max premiere in late April. Check out a new foreign TV spot for the film below.
