This year’s Thanksgiving box-office shows that even with several new releases in cinemas, a lot of people still aren’t returning yet with the overall holiday weekend box-office dropping potentially as much as 45% as compared to pre-COVID years.
Disney’s “Encanto” is expected to take the lead with a proposed $43.3 million five-day total, while Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci” is on track for $21.8 million over the five-day holiday. It will come third behind the second weekend of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” with $36.3 million.
Not faring so well is “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” which is set for an $8.85 million total over its opening five days, while in limited release Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” is performing quite strongly with an $84K per screen average.
