“Shameless” and “Reba” star Steve Howey has scored the male lead role in the CBS drama pilot based on James Cameron’s 1994 film “True Lies”.
Howey will play Harry, the risk-averse computer salesman and devoted family man who is actually a first-class spy working for a covert U.S. Intelligence organization.
Harry’s unfulfilled suburban wife is soon propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she is recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.
Howey takes on the role played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original. The wife role, played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the film, has yet to be cast of the series pilot.
“Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix is writing the pilot and executive producing while Anthony Hemingway will direct and executive produce. Cameron, McG, Rae Sanchini, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh will executive produce for 20th Television.
