Snyder’s “Dead” Dropped A Naughty Joke

Remember that “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” wrecking balls joke? Turns out Zack Snyder’s upcoming Las Vegas-set zombie heist film “Army of the Dead” had a similar visual gag they took out.

However it wasn’t the film’s backers Netflix that pulled it, rather it was Snyder himself who chose to remove the scene in a moment of self-censorship that is unusual for the man who made “Sucker Punch” and a four-hour version of “Justice League”.

Speaking with The Times, he says he pulled a scene involving dead zombie male strippers. More specifically he says:

“We had a sequence where one of the male strippers had a huge p—- with a bite taken out of it… We thought that was too much.”

It’s expected some of that scene will remain uncut and Snyder is very proud of being able to expand on the kinds of zombies he can show here which includes robot zombies, animal zombies, along with human zombies who are divided into two groups:

“[We] have two categories of zombies in the movie, alphas and then normal shamblers. [If] you see a zombie movie, normal shamblers, it’s like a normal zombie, they kind of move slowly. And then our alphas, which are an evolved version of zombies and zombies that have taken another step, and they’re much… they’re fast, and we kind of treat them kind of like almost like wolves or like, they’re not… they’re sentient, you know what I mean? They kind of, they fight [in] packs and they kind of have a pack mentality.”

The film follows a group of mercenaries trying to get to the heart of Las Vegas, the epicenter of a massive zombie outbreak, to retrieve a small fortune in under two days before the entire city is levelled.

“Army of the Dead” hits the service on May 21st.
