Snyder, “Scarface,” BHC4 Get Tax Credits

The California Film Commission awarded a record-setting $138.8 million in film tax credits on Monday with streaming giant Netflix a big winner.

Approximately $43.3 million of that amount is being taken by three projects at Netflix – Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic “Rebel Moon” ($18.5 million), the fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” movie ($15.8 million), and an untitled Jonah Hill film ($9 million).

Sony and Universal were the other big winners. Two Sony projects took big paydays including “Dixon” ($14.5 million) and “End of Liz as We Know It” ($13.5 million).

Universal landed funds for their “Scarface” remake ($9.9 million) and new untitled projects from Jean-Marc Vallee ($17.3 million) and Karyn Kusama ($3.9 million).

Imagine Entertainment’s “Escape” ($8.7 million) and Kenya Barris’ reboot of “White Men Can’t Jump” ($6.6 million) at Disney also scored. Several other indie projects scored $2.5 million or less each including new films from Aziz Ansari and Kobi Libii.
