It is thought £30million will be enough to persuade Rennes to part with Mendy.
Rennes president, Nicolas Holveck, has confirmed Edouard Mendy’s desire to join Chelsea.
The Blues are in the market for a new goalkeeper in the wake of Kepa Arrizabagala’s woeful campaign.
They have been linked with a number of top stoppers but Mendy has emerged as the most likely candidate.
It is thought that a bid of £30million will be enough to tempt Rennes into parting with the 28-year-old, and Holveck has now confirmed his desire to leave the club.
Rennes president Holveck to @bidrac14: “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy. We know the player wants to leave [and join Chelsea]. But the agreement at the moment is not 100% completed between the three parts”. 🔵 #CFC #Chelsea #transfers

And Chelsea may not be finished there, with reports suggesting they could still be targeting versatile West Ham star Declan Rice to finish off what is already a remarkable transfer window of business.
