Meg 2: The Trench
Filming on the Ben Wheatley-directed “Meg 2: The Trench” will begin next week in the UK at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. Jason Statham returns as paleobiologist Jonas Taylor in the follow-up to 2018’s hit “The Meg” about a giant prehistoric shark. “J6,” a new feature about the January 6th 2021 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol, is set to be shopped around with Billy Ray (“Shattered Glass”) set to write and direct while Adam McKay (“Don’t Look Up”) will produce.
A follow-up to Ray’s Showtime mini-series “The Comey Rule,” the film saw him interviewing key principals a few days later from police officers to members of Congress who were trapped inside during the violent siege with the aim of offering a ground-level view. [Source: Deadline]
The Flash
DC Comics has announced “The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive,” a three-issue monthly comic that serves as a prequel to the upcoming live-action “The Flash” film from director Andy Muschietti and starring Ezra Miller.
The first issue will be released in print and digital on April 26th while a trade paperback collection of the issues arrives in October just before the film on November 4th. [Source: DC Comics]
The Last of Us
HBO’s series adaption of hit videogame “The Last of Us” has added Jeremy Webb (“Shadow and Bone,” “The Umbrella Academy”) and Liza Johnson (“American Horror Story,” “What We Do in the Shadows”) to its list of directors. The ten-episode first season is expected to premiere sometime in the Fall on HBO. [Source: Collider]
We Need to Talk About Cosby
Showtime has released the trailer for its four-part docuseries “We Need to Talk About Cosby”. The series explores the descent of Bill Cosby from “America’s Dad” to an alleged sexual predator.
Featuring interviews with comedians, cultural commentators, journalists and women, this explores the story in a society where rape culture, toxic masculinity, capitalism and white supremacy is shaping how we re-evaluate sex, power and agency. The series begins on January 30th.
