Netflix has released the first photo for “Malcolm & Marie,” the Zendaya and John David Washington-led indie romantic drama shot during the pandemic and which was acquired for $30 million in September. Sam Levinson helms the film which is slated to hit Netflix on February 5th.

Washington plays a filmmaker ho returns home with his girlfriend (Zendaya) following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what’s sure to be imminent critical and financial success. For All Mankind
AppleTV+ has announced a Friday, February 19th 2021 premiere date for the second season of its space drama “For All Mankind”. In addition, Cynthy Wu, Coral Pena and Casey W. Johnson are joining the cast as series regulars alongside returnees Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Wrenn Schmidt, Jodi Balfour, Krys Marshall and Sonya Walger. Out There
Hulu is developing the half-hour dramedy “Out There” set in the world of technology and dating and based on a New Yorker short story from Kate Folk. Sharon Horgan and Jason Winer will executive produce.

The story follows Meg, a lonely and single woman in San Francisco who thinks she’s found the rarest of unicorns in Roger, a disarmingly handsome, attentive and empathetic man. But she’ll soon discover he’s a blot – a fake man programmed to steal her identity, ruin her reputation and destroy her life. [Source: Deadline]

What If?
Emmy-winning “Pose” star Billy Porter has officially signed on for his feature directorial debut with the coming-of-age drama “What If?” at Orion Pictures. Alvaro García Lecuona penned the script.

The story centers around high school senior Khal who posts on Reddit about his crush on Kelsa, a trans girl at his school. The internet encourages him to go for it and the two navigate a high school senior year relationship that neither could have expected. [Source: Deadline]

Clear Lake
Colin Hanks, “Doom Patrol” regular Diane Guerrero and hip-hop star Nelly have joined the cast of the Bruce Beresford-directed and Buddy Holly-inspired biopic “Clear Lake”. Hanks plays Holly’s manager and producer, Guerrero is Holly’s wife and Nelly plays Chuck Berry.

Ruairi O’Connor plays rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Holly who, along with Ritchie Valens, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and pilot Roger Peterson, died in a plane crash outside a snowy Clear Lake, Iowa in 1959. [Source: THR]
