Following strong reviews and topping the box-office the past two weekends, Universal Pictures has announced that Christopher Landon’s horror-comedy “Freaky” is coming to PVOD platforms beginning December 4th. This marks the first film of Universal’s deal with exhibitors like AMC & Cinemark to allow for PVOD release 17 days after opening theatrically. [Source: Universal Pictures]
Fatale
Deon Taylor’s psychological thriller “Fatale,” led by Hilary Swank and Michael Ealy, will now release on December 18th in theaters nationwide – moving up from its 2021 release date. That puts it in limited release against “The Father” and “Hunter Hunter.” [Source: BlackFilmandTV.com]
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
“Blindspot,” “Broadchurch” and “In Fabric” actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste has scored a new series regular role opposite John Krasinski in the third season of AmazonPrime Video’s “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” series.
Amazon Studios, Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television are backing the series which is expected to film sometime next year with John Krasinski returning to the role of Ryan. Jean-Baptiste will play Elizabeth Wright, the Chief of Station. [Source: Deadline]
Boss Level
Hulu has acquired director Joe Carnahan’s action sci-fi thriller “Boss Level” in an eight-figure deal. Frank Grillo, Naomi Watts, Mel Gibson, Will Sasso, Ken Jeong, Annabelle Wallis and Michelle Yeoh star in the film which will debut on the streamer in 2021.
Grillo plays a former special forces agent Roy Pulver, who is trapped in a time loop that constantly repeats the day of his murder tied to a secret government project. Gibson plays the head of the government program and Watts plays his wife. [Source: Deadline]
The Walking Dead
AMC has released a very brief trailer for the upcoming “The Walking Dead” extended tenth season, offering the first footage from the additional six episodes which are scheduled to premiere from Friday, February 28th. The clip also offers a first look at guest-stars Hilarie Burton Morgan, Robert Patrick and Okea Eme-Akari.
