“Queen’s Gambit” Star Is Beatles Manager

Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, who broke out alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in Netflix sensation “The Queen’s Gambit,” has been hired to lead a biopic about The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein.

Acclaimed music video director and filmmaker Jonas Akerlund (“Lords Of Chaos”) is directing and will have input on the soundtrack for the project which will be titled “Midas Man”.

The film will chart Epstein’s role in the cultural revolution and creative explosion of the 1960s, and his sizable yet often unheralded influence on pop music and its colossal impact worldwide.

He also had a complicated personal life, a gay Jewish man living in 1960s England where homosexuality was a felony, closeted gambler and an addict. He was also a visionary who helped guide the band to international stardom before he died in 1967, at the age of 32, from an accidental drug overdose.

Jonathan Wakeham pens from a story by Brigit Grant. Kevin Proctor, Perry Trevers, Trevor Beattie and Jeremy Chatterton produce.

Filming will take place at Twickenham Studios and on location in London, Liverpool, and the United States. The shooting schedule hasn’t yet been set.
