A third season of Disney and Lucasfilm’s “The Mandalorian” isn’t expected until next year.
Hot on the heels of word that spin-off series “The Book of Boba Fett” had wrapped filming ahead of a December 2021 debut, actor Pedro Pascal has let slip that the next season of “The Mandalorian” is going to be further off than fans might like.
Speaking with fellow “Star Wars” actor Ewan McGregor for Variety’s Actors on Actors, Pascal was asked if he had finished filming the new season to which he replied: “We haven’t shot a third season so confidentially, so anyway let me tell you what’s going on.”
In the interview, you can see Pascal realises he let that information mistakenly slip and the pair of actors share a laugh about it. The first two seasons of “The Mandalorian” premiered one year apart but didn’t have COVID safety protocols and other measures to deal with that could easily have stalled the new run.
Showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have also been busy with the “Boba Fett” series with Favreau previously saying that Mando’s third season will come along “pretty soon” after “The Book of Boba Fett” hits.
No mention is made of the complication regarding HBO’s “The Last of Us” series which Pascal leads. That show will shoot over the course of a full year from July 2021 to June 2022.
