Entertainment Weekly has done a feature story on the upcoming sequel “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and included nearly a dozen shots from the film showcasing LeBron James and the various Looney Tunes characters.
The shows also show a glimpse of actors Sonequa Martin-Green, Cedric Joe and Ceyair Wright who play James’ family, along with Don Cheadle as Al G Rhythm and director Malcolm D. Lee.
Producer Ryan Coogler calls the film an examination of Black fatherhood. In the film LeBron is having a hard time relating to his son Dom who is much more interested in creating games than playing them.
His son’s tech skills draw the attention of a CGI humanoid named Al G Rhythm who pulls him and LeBron into the “Warner 3000 entertainment ‘Server-verse’” in an effort to steal some of LeBron’s followers on social media.
The only way to get Dom back, escape this intellectual property black hole, and stop this AI villain is with a game of basketball as LeBron rounds up the Looney Tunes characters to defeat a new team of villains called The Goon Squad.
“Space Jam: A New Legacy” is due out later this year.
