NBCU & Roku Reach Deal For Peacock

After months of wrangling, and a last minute threat of apps going dark this weekend, Comcast and Roku have finally reached an agreement that will see NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming app coming to Roku players and Roku-enabled TVs.

In addition, the companies renewed their agreement to keep 46 NBCU broadcast and cable apps on Roku. Under the companies’ expanded pact, NBC content will be added to the free, ad-supported Roku Channel.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed but a Roku rep says they have reached “a meaningful partnership around advertising.” Peacock will arrive on the Roku Channel Store within a few weeks, pending technical integration work between the two companies.

Peacock launched nationwide July 15th on various platforms and devices, but until now has been unavailable on both Roku and Amazon Fire TV sticks (though has been available on Apple TV). Peacock presently remains off Amazon, while rival HBO Max also remains unavailable on Roku and Fire TV over deal disagreements.
