Mikel Arteta was harassed by Arsenal supporters outside the Emirates Stadium following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
The Gunners have now suffered defeats in both of their Premier League games so far as first-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Reece James secured the win for Thomas Tuchel’s side on Sunday.
In their first game of the season at the Emirates, Arsenal fans took the opportunity to voice their frustrations as they booed the players at half time as well as at the full-time whistle.
And some fans vented their anger directly at Arteta as he made his way home on Sunday evening.
As Arteta’s car was stationary, several fans mobbed the driver’s window and began urging the Spaniard manager to resign.
One supporter could be head asking: ‘Arteta, was that good enough? Please leave the club.’
Another man said: ‘Arteta, do yourself a favour. Mikel, do yourself a favour, please leave.’
Speaking after the game, Arteta admitted that Chelsea deserved their win but praised his Arsenal players for their effort levels against the Champions League holders.
‘It’s another defeat, the second one of the season which is really tough to take,’ said Arteta.
‘Chelsea deserved to win, I think they were the better side overall. We had moments at the start of the first half and at the beginning of the second half.
‘After conceding the goal they started to manage the game exactly how they wanted. When we had them in good areas and without the ball with our press they still managed to come out with the incredible quality that they have. They showed in moments why they are the champions of the Champions League.

‘What I liked about the team is that at 2-0 they never gave up, they tried right up to 90 minutes.
‘With our limitations, because at the moment we are missing eight or nine players.
‘I’m sad, sad for the fans because we really wanted to give them something special today. Even though we know the circumstances we have with the team at the moment, and not being able to do that and enjoy this moment with them is sad.’
