“Matrix Resurrections,” “The Batman” Cameo Talk

Sony Pictures, Marvel

A couple of cameo reports have cropped up this weekend. First up, it looks as though Tom Hardy could have a surprise cameo in “The Matrix Resurrections,” albeit only in the background.

At one point, filming on both the new ‘Matrix’ and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” was taking place simultaneously in San Francisco. Jessica Henwick, who stars as ‘Bugs’ in “Matrix Resurrections,” has revealed to Den of Geek that Hardy came to the ‘Matrix’ set:

“We were filming in San Francisco at the same time as Venom 2, and I met Tom Hardy. And so, Tom Hardy and I are running in the background of one of the scenes. And I’m so curious to see whether it made the cut.”

From the sounds of it, Hardy is more a background extra in the scene and so unless it’s pointed out you probably won’t see him. Hardy has done this sort of thing before, filming a stormtrooper cameo in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” which sadly did end up edited out.

Meanwhile, according to THR, multiple sources have told the outlet that Warner Bros. Pictures has been testing two different cuts of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” – one with a certain actor making a brief appearance and one without. The final test screening reportedly occurred last week, with the decision now made as to which version the studio likes.

This follows on from a report last month that “Dunkirk” and “Eternals” actor Barry Keoghan may be playing The Joker in the film which opens in March, and the outlet says they have no knowledge if that rumor is true.
