Sorry, this video isn’t available any more.

A man who spent more than £30,000 on botched hair transplants has told how he would do it all again.

On Monday’s This Morning, Spencer Stevenson, 44, appeared via video link where he told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford why he forked out thousands on hair transplants.

He started losing his hair at 21, and over the past 13 years he has had 13 procedures, but many left him with unnatural-looking clumps of hair along his hairline.

However, since having the final procedure to fix his hairline, Spencer has ended up spending approximately £40,000 on hair transplants.

‘I started to lose my hair at the tender age of 21,’ he told the hosts. ‘And it had a huge psychological effect on me.

‘As a result of jumping in with both feet early on, I had several poor procedures and I had to find a way to get out of that, and that in turn cost me a lot of time and a lot of money.

‘But fortunately for me, I now sport a full head of hair and retrospectively, I would do it again. It’s a valid investment in my own self-image.’

Spencer went on to add that when he started losing his hair, it had such an effect on him that he ‘suffered in silence’.

‘When I started to lose my hair, I thought it was just me,’ he continued.

‘I tried everything, wigs, treatments, all lotions and potions, but the hair loss continued. It affected me hugely, emotionally.’

He added: ‘Hair loss affects people differently, but many are traumatised by the psychological effects of hair loss.

‘For me a very good investment, it’s enabled me to live my life about how I want to live it, without being consumed by hair loss, which many people are.

‘It’s a multi-billion pound industry for a reason, the demand is there and sadly it’s become a commodity and there are a lot of botched transplants now trying to capitalise on the vulnerable and desperate.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
