Liverpool join Bayern Munich in race to sign Red Bull Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi

Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move for Red Bull Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi.

Ibrahima Konate was the Reds’ sole addition in the summer transfer window, with the central defender completing a £36million switch from RB Leipzig.

But with Liverpool’s fabled front-three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino not getting any younger, Jurgen Klopp is keen to plan for the future and the Merseyside giants have begun drawing up a list of potential attacking targets.

Arnaut Danjuma – who impressed in Villarreal’s recent Champions League defeat to Manchester United – is firmly on Liverpool’s radar and Adeyemi has emerged as another possible option for the Anfield outfit up front.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool will have to fight off strong competition for Adeyemi’s signature, though, with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund RB Leipzig also expressing an interest in the highly-rated 19-year-old.

It’s claimed Red Bull Salzburg will be demanding a fee of around €30-40m (£25-35m) for their prized possession.

The report adds that Adeyemi would favour a return to Germany over a move to the Premier League should he depart Salzburg at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Adeyemi made his senior debut for the German national team just last month, coming on as a 71st-minute substitute in the side’s thumping 6-0 victory over Armenia in World Cup qualifying.

Hansi Flick had been keen to reward Adeyemi for his outstanding form in front of goal at club level this season, with the teenager scoring 11 goals in 15 games for Austrian Bundesliga champions Salzburg.

‘He’s already shown at the start of this season that he can be ice cold in front of goal,’ the Germany manager said after the defeat of Armenia.

‘He did really well today when he came in.’
