Lady Gaga has confirmed she will be performing at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards – and we are excited already.

The singer took to Twitter to announce the news, as she shared a video of her wearing a giant extraterrestrial-themed mask over her face, all while sipping a drink outside of a house.

‘I’ve been at home dreaming of #Chromatica, and it’s finally time to take off for the first live performance,’ she wrote.

‘Tune in to the #VMAs on 8/30!’

Fans in their many hurried to social media to express their excitement, with one tweeting: ‘Oh my god, finally. We’re ready.’

‘OMFG I CAN’T WAIT,’ another added.

It marks Gaga’s first performance at the VMAs in seven years, and her fourth overall.

The 34-year-old joins the likes of BTS, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, and Maluma, who are also taking to the stage at the upcoming ceremony.

As well as performing, Gaga will of course be hoping to win big, as she is up for a total of nine nominations.

Seven of her nods are for her collaborative effort with Ariana Grande, Rain On Me, which is competing in categories including video of the year, song of the year and best collaboration.

Gaga has also been nominated for artist of the year, while her performance of Smile from the One World: Together At Home benefit concert is up for the award of best quarantine performance.

Tying her count is Ariana, who has also been nominated seven times for Rain On Me. Meanwhile, her single with Justin Bieber, Stuck With U, is hoping to win in the best collaboration and best music video from home categories.

Closely following behind is Billie Eilish, who has landed six nods, while Taylor Swift has five.

In the meantime, Keke Palmer has confirmed she will be hosting the award show.

The MTV Video Music Awards 2020 will be broadcast on MTV on 30 August.
