“La Brea” S2 To Boast ‘New Worlds’

NBCUniversal

NBC’s “La Brea” has been a surprise smash hit for the network and its streaming service Peacock since its late September premiere. It seems to have been strong enough that the show was recently renewed for a second season.

The series begins when a massive sinkhole opens in the middle of Los Angeles with hundreds of people pulled into its depths. The survivors find themselves trapped in a mysterious and dangerous primeval land where they must band together to survive.

Ahead of the first season finale on Tuesday, creator and showrunner David Appelbaum teases the next run will boast ‘new worlds’ and plenty of surprises. He tells Deadline:

“We’re going to be putting characters in different worlds moving into Season 2. There are going to be a lot of unexpected surprises that will happen at the end of the finale that is going to put our characters in a lot of different places. But also, we’re going to retain a lot of what we saw in Season 1. There are still going to be characters in the clearing trying to figure out how to survive down [there]. But one of the goals of the show for future seasons is to expand what the show can be.”

The ten-episode first season was shot in Melbourne, Australia and starred the likes of Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Josh McKenzie and more.
