Jurgen Klopp said he was “happy with everything” despite Liverpool’s fringe players potentially giving him a selection headache after progress in the Carabao Cup.
A second-string Liverpool side still proved too much for League One outfit Lincoln City, claiming a 7-2 win to move into the fourth round – where they will face Arsenal.
Takumi Minamino and Curtis Jones both bagged braces, with Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Grujic and Divock Origi completing the scoring.
However, Liverpool missed out on a clean sheet, with Tayo Edun and Lewis Montsma replying for Lincoln.
Despite that, Klopp doesn’t think the two goals conceded took the gloss off the win, as he was impressed with his own side’s “easy on the eye” approach.
“They deserved their two goals,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“We played a really good football game tonight. It was easy on the eye. We passed the ball and finished situations off.
“The boys wanted to play football and showed an exceptional attitude.”
The game gave Klopp the opportunity to see some of his fringe players in action, and many of them stepped up.
Indeed, the manager said he was pleased to see their backup XI playing in the same fashion as their usual first choice players.
“That’s how it should be,” he said. “Wear the shirt and show who you are. I’m happy with everything.
“Two goals we conceded were not nice, but it’s not a massive problem. You can have struggles in a game like this.”
