Justice League Snyder Cut hits HBO Max on March 18

The long-awaited Snyder Cut of lands on on March 18, director Zach Snyder revealed Friday. The DC Extended Universe superhero adventure will debut as a full-length Max Original, according to HBO, not in four separate hour-long parts as .

“Fallen #SnyderCut,” the director wrote in a tweet, which included a poster with the date.

Outside the US, the new version of Justice League will also hit HBO services in central Europe, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland and HBO Go services in Asia on March 18. The company said it will announce release plans for other regions soon. 

The of Justice League was released in 2017, after Snyder stepped down during the editing process to deal with the death of his daughter. Joss Whedon took over for edits and reshoots, but the 120-minute movie disappointed critics and lagged at the box office.

Following this, a social media campaign to release Snyder’s much longer version picked up steam. Cast members like Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Henry Cavill (Superman) and Jason Momoa (Aquaman) behind it. Last May, Snyder that his version would hit HBO Max in 2021.

In December, Warner Bros. made an unprecedented move by announcing that HBO Max will at no extra charge the same day each film hits US cinemas, though they will be shown on the service for just one month. The time limit won’t apply to the Snyder Cut, but will apply to James Gunn’s upcoming DC movie , which lands in August.
