HBO’s “True Detective” could be making a comeback and is recruiting some celebrated filmmakers to help out.
“Moonlight” director and “The Underground Railroad” creator Barry Jenkins has come onboard to executive produce the new season, while “Tigers Are Not Afraid” writer/director Issa Lopez has been hired to write.
Should this fourth season of the anthology move forward, Lopez would direct the pilot and also as executive producer.
She and Jenkins will take over from series creator Nic Pizzolatto who is not formally involved in the new run which is currently dubbed “True Detective: Night Country”. He will still likely receive an executive producer credit though.
No deals have been formalized at this point.
