The Jamie Foxx-led Mike Tyson biopic has now morphed into “Tyson,” a limited event series starring Foxx as the boxing legend and executive produced by Foxx, Antoine Fuqua and Martin Scorsese.
The project was previously set up as a film in 2014 with Terence Winter penning the script. This incarnation sees screenwriter Colin Preston penning the pilot and currently in the process of writing the full series.
The new series incarnation will be taken out to market shortly. Tyson and his wife Kiki Tyson, Rick Yorn, Ian Montone, Chuck Pacheco, Sophie Watts, John Ryan Jr. and James Barnett will all executive produce. Foxx has been bulking up to play the boxer since last Summer.
The project is separate from Hulu’s “Iron Mike” series which has the “I, Tonya” team of director Craig Gillespie and producers Margot Robbie and Karin Gist attached. That project is going straight-to-series and Tyson himself is furious with that incarnation.
